Restaurant phone ordering

From “the usual, please”
to a clear pickup order.

Let guests order in a conversation while your team stays with service. Khushie's pickup ordering workflow is designed around your menu, an exact read-back, and confirmation from the connected ordering system.

Illustrative conversation · No live call or provider action

A good phone order leaves fewer questions behind.

An order taken during a rush can lose important details: the selected modifier, the pickup time, or whether the kitchen actually received it. Moving the conversation to an AI assistant should make those details clearer, not create another place for your team to check.

Khushie is designed to use a reviewed menu and approved ordering connection. It collects the guest's choices, reads back the relevant details, and asks for confirmation before a consequential action. An uncertain provider response stays uncertain until it can be reconciled; it should not become a second order.

The details make the difference

A considered approach
to pickup orders.

01

Your current menu and options

Order conversations need accurate prices, available items and supported modifiers. If an item is unavailable or an option is unclear, the assistant should offer a valid alternative or ask a question.

02

Confirmation before submission

Read back items, quantities, options, total and pickup details so the guest can correct them. Changes after confirmation need a fresh review rather than reuse of an outdated approval.

03

Useful history for your team

Owners and managers can review call-linked order history and eligible corrections to an existing order. The owner Orders area is for managing that history, with no manual create-order checkout.

How the workflow comes together

Start with the right context.

Configuration, confirmation and verification each have a part to play.

  1. 01

    Review the menu

Connect an approved catalog source or review an uploaded menu. Check prices and modifiers before publication; an uploaded file is not automatically a reliable ordering menu.

  2. 02

    Confirm the guest's request

Collect the exact choices and pickup details. Apply a returning guest's preference only when appropriate and confirmed for the current request.

  3. 03

    Verify the source outcome

A provider acknowledgment determines whether an order was accepted. Payment, pickup readiness and message delivery are separate facts; none should be inferred from order creation alone.

A useful starting point

Before enabling phone orders

No payment details should be collected through an unsupported flow. Actual POS writes and payment services are not connected in the current preview.

  • Reviewed items, prices, modifiers and availability
  • Approved POS capability and correct location mapping
  • Pickup estimates and restaurant cutoff rules
  • A supported guest payment path, where needed
  • Tested rejection, timeout and staff follow-up behavior
Good questions

Questions about pickup orders.

Clear expectations make a better first conversation.

Does Khushie replace my POS?

No. The intended order workflow works through approved capabilities of your connected system. Menu import access and permission to submit or amend an order are different capabilities and must be verified separately.

Can owners create an order in the dashboard?

The owner Orders area is order history and management of eligible existing orders. Guest order collection and confirmed submission belong to the conversation workflow; the owner portal has no manual create-order checkout.

What happens if the ordering system times out?

An uncertain result must be checked against the same source transaction before retrying. The assistant should not say the order was accepted or blindly resubmit it, because the provider may already have received the first request.

Will a confirmed order also confirm payment?

Not automatically. Source acceptance, payment state and any text confirmation are separate outcomes. The permitted payment workflow depends on the approved provider and your restaurant setup.
